Credits Records was founded in late 2023 by Jacob Tompkins as a way to provide a platform for artists and producers to release their most authentic work.

“Honestly, I started Credits Records because I simply couldn’t get signed to the big labels I was aspiring to be with. Granted, I was very green, and they were huge, but I was also impatient, which meant I had two options: not release and wait, or rip the band-aid off and start releasing.
I decided if I’m going to do it, it should be done properly, so I spent some time coming up with ideas, concepts, goals and a general mission for the label.
As soon as the first release was announced, I had messages from other talented artists in the same position I was in - unanswered, impatient and all clearly very ready to release with intention.
Fast forward to now, those initial foundation artists still work with us, most with multiple releases, playing our events - and generally just good friends. Our catalogue is constantly growing - full of really exciting artists with high calibre productions and a bright future ahead of them.
Year 1 [2024] was all about laying the foundation of our vibe via releases, general branding, etc.
When signing new artists or releases, I often say, show me what you love. Not what you think the market wants. I want to see what the artist loves when the outcome isn’t considered.
Year 2 [2025] revealed itself as the perfect time to connect with the community we were beginning to cultivate. 6 live events around AU, the launch of our products [digital] and our sights set for exciting horizons, not just domestically, but internationally.
So to summarise, thank god for rejection, as it is specifically what landed us here. I often reflect [like I’m doing now] on my personal journey, and the fact that if I got what I thought I wanted at any given phase, I would have so little. Here’s to Credits Records!”
